How it works

How HMS keeps a hotel on one set of books

How HMS keeps a hotel on one set of booksFront desk staff sign in with a PIN and record bookings, where double bookings are blocked. The restaurant and bar bill through the point of sale, with voids and split bills, and housekeeping logs maintenance and stock. All of it lands on one set of books for each hotel, priced in UGX, which settles through Mobile Money tenders and a shift cash-up, on PostgreSQL with row-level security keeping each hotel's data apart.StaffRecordsLedgerSettle and storeFront deskPIN sign-inRestaurant, barPoint of saleHousekeepingRooms and upkeepBookingsNo double bookingsBillsVoids, split billsUpkeep and stockMaintenance, stockOne set of booksPer hotel, in UGXMobile MoneyAt the point of saleShift cash-upPer shiftPostgreSQLRow-level security

Context

Hotels in the region often run bookings, housekeeping and the bar on separate books, so double bookings and unpaid folios slip through. HMS is Persmon's own multi-hotel platform, priced in UGX with Mobile Money, and it is in use at Ishasha Junction Hotel. A public demo gives every visitor a private copy for 24 hours.

What we built

  • Bookings, check-in and check-out, with double bookings blocked at the database
  • A restaurant and bar point of sale with modifiers, voids, split bills and Mobile Money tenders
  • Housekeeping, maintenance and inventory, with a shift cash-up
  • Nine staff roles, plus a PIN sign-in for the front desk
  • Each hotel's data isolated by row-level security
  • A public demo where every visitor gets a private copy for 24 hours
